Excellent pics...

..without the crowd.
I heard Saturday was a very busy day, yet you were able to beat the crowds and keep your pictures people free. Summit pics are best without the crowd.
Nice job!

Re: Excellent pics...

I had multiple opportunities to take photos of the crowds, while I was either at the top of the "Old Chute" or descending it. When I was at the top, I wanted to reach the summit before the crowds made the "knife edge" traverse a little hairy (and to see the sunrise). When I was descending the "Old Chute", it just wasn't safe to turn in all directions and take photos of the crowds (some of which bumped into me). I *do* like the summit ridge photo that shows two climber silhouettes, however.

Congrats

I appreciate your post. I've been planning a very simular trip myself. Had been packing fairly heavy all spring for an overnight trip. Picked out a spot at about 9250 ft for a tent site and early morning start. I did Mt. hood last year as a roped paid group but was left feeling "unfulfilled" as we started at 8500ft and it all seemed so rushed. Hoping to still get my trip in but I heard the burgshrund was opening up pretty good and I totally worry about the crowd on the way down as I'm not a great or fast climber and I don't want to feel rushed coming down the steep section.

Good Job!!

Re: Congrats

Just go the "Old Chute" route... You will never need to cross the bergschrund. Follow the obvious path. What happens is you cross west over the top of the Hogsback, then down and across the icy/snowy terrain to a rock outcrop, and then up the "Old Chute". Don't worry about time, worry about safety. During my descent of the "Old Chute", I took a lot of time, and I don't consider myself a fast climber. You'll probably do fine.
