"Got tight last night on absinthe and did knife tricks. Great success shooting the knife into the piano. The woodworms are so bad and eat hell out of all furniture that you can always claim the woodworms did it."

Mt. Baker - Easton GlacierOne of the prettier climbs I did during my trip. Relatively easy, too. Could do easily as a day hike but it's nice to see the scenery of the Railroad Grade during daylight. Snow stayed hard well after dawn, personally I would start later next time.

Colman-DemingGreat weather. Some clouds, but they stayed above the summit so views were still awesome. First climb on a crevassed route for our group. We were exhausted when we returned to base camp so decided to rest for an additional night before packing out and thought a text message was successfully sent to our contact person. Turns out the message did not go through, and since we were more than 12 hours after our expected return time, we were met by search and rescue at the parking lot. Overall a great climb and good time with friends and family. Spent the rest of the week hiking in Heather Meadows which was still mostly snow covered.

Colman-DemingSummited, but no views. Visibility dropped to below 20 feet because of mist at around 7,500'. Very wet. I had prepared for good weather and was quite miserable as a result. Met a couple groups from American Alpine Institute on the way up. Cheerful people, but angry mountain. Must redo some time.

Easton GlacierGeat climb with Alpine Ascents and legendary guide Pat Timson. Perfect weather, perfect snow conditions, great team. It doesn't get any better than this one. What a beautiful mountain.

Bake SaleMy friend Will was kind enough to teach me the basics of glacier travel for this peak. We were able to ascend by ski most of the way, but did use crampons for the last 1500 feet. The ski down was unbelievable (and a lot better than walking!)

Mini Expedition StyleWondered around the glaciers for 3 day while practicing glacier travel and crevasse rescue. Spend 4th day in tent while a storm blew through. Summited via Coleman Headwall...big wakeup call but lots of fun.

Coleman-Deming BashThe cloud forming on the summit all morning suddenly cleared when we were just below the Roman Wall. A very dramatic reveal. Beautiful summit, very windy. We were one of only two groups to make it up that day due to posthole purgatory.

Colfax attempt from Thunder Glacierhttp://www.turns-all-year.com/skiing_snowboarding/trip_reports/index.php?topic=15877.new#new
summary:
fantastic skiing but we were stymied by the ice conditions on the ridge of the primary objective.

Perfect WeatherMy first big climb since breaking my ankle 2 months earlier. Topped out just after 7am in perfect weather conditions. Coleman/Deming was in good shape and there were no open crevasses on the route.

Rain, Rain, Rain, Rain...Rained on us half of every day of a 6-day glacier training course. One guy bailed in the middle of the night on day one, the rest stuck it out... Wetter and colder every day. Was both fun and miserable. Summit day was great though, got above the clouds and into the sun.

Coleman/DemingCamped out for 2 nights just below 6000ft. It was really windy but the weather was amazing. I got sick and opted not to go for the summit with my group. It was still an enjoyable couple of days in the mountains though.

The Bham mtnMy local mtn when I went to WWU. Climbed it a second time a year later, but in September - amazing how many more crevasses were open.

WWU OC TripMy first climb on a glaciated peak! The WWU Outdoor Center fall trip went off without a hitch. We took the Coleman Route up Grouse Creek from the Heliotrope TH. Thunderstorm hit as we walked down the 2.8 snowy road miles to the cars.

2nd Route ClimbedIt was a long day on the Easton Route due to some slow partners, but we made it up, and down just in time for a thunderstorm to hit. Went into the crater, which was cool – and sulphurous.
