Moose Crossing

Moose Crossing

More reflective of the actual hour we got started this day. Tons of wildlife enroute, grizzly, moose (one of which is swimming across Rawson Lake in this photo) and bald eagle. Mount Sarrail, Kananaskis Provincial Park/Elk Lakes Provincial Park, Canadian Rockies, August, 2008.

Re: A/No Wonder

true...just found out today this photo won an award, I will need to take it down, don't keep my better ones on SP, but kind of surprised...I will have to rethink this photo...it is cool to me because I know what is swimming in the lake below...but don't see how anyone else could really tell..cheers

Re: A/No Wonder

thanks Steve, yeah that is it...so we got an alpine start...and stirred up several moose just on the drive in....then as we ascended to Rawson Lake a bald eagle was doing some early morning fishing at the north end and as we approached the south end, a female moose jumped off the trail in front of us....after another 1000'+ gain to the col to start the technical portion of the northeast buttress, my partner noticed her swimming across the lake...her plan I believe whether we bothered her or not....she could walk around it, but preferred the swim...pretty cool stuff...quite cold even in the summer...cheers
