You were right, Gangolf. I was not here, and neither on so many places around Europe. We were just once driving from Valle d'Aosta over Petit St. Bernard. Interesting mountain, nice page and some good pictures!

It's possible to get Pietra Rossa lake avoiding the ferrata by different pathways along the rocky ramparts: pay attention if the rocks are wet!
How are the conditions of the ferrata from Colle della Croce towards the summit of Mont Colmet?

Thanks Livio,
I've seen your pictures. I wasn't aware about the other way (we were too tired to pay attention when we came down after a whole day climbing.
As for the conditions (in 2002) of the trail from Colle della Croce: pretty neglected. There are signs that warn you that nobody takes responsibility and I think it hasn't been maintained since the 60s. In one place the ferrata has completely vanished. You have a real climbing pitch (II) of some 4m.
On the other hand it is a beautiful trail and the conditions ensure that you'll be alone on top with eagles and Stambecci :-))
I'm talking about MV! I have the pano but I need to label the mountains. It took two days to do that (correctly) for Mont Colmet. But I guess I know a (not quite so nice) way around my problem. The labels on the right of the picture vanished. But if I reserve more space (a white space to the right of the pano) all labels are visible again. Now I only need to fetch all my maps and go to MV. But I'll overhaul Croz dell'Altissimo before that. Another large pano.....
Thanks Don! The picts are Antonio's mostly. Since we are doing the pano relay, I forgot to mention this one, which in my mind is one of the best because of nice memories.

Untitled CommentA 10,000 foot mountain from which you can see the peaks of Aosta, Savoy and Valais.
There is a red rock pond high on its slopes.
The path is not maintained so you will likely have the summit to yourself.
