May 18, 2002. With a blizzard...

May 18, 2002. With a blizzard raging outside, we had created a very sturdy snow shelter at Camp Muir big enough to keep all 11 of us well protected. We used a saw to cut snow blocks to build the side walls, and a tarp to cover the the exposed part of the roof. We were definitely the envy of the mountain as we hung out in comfort, optimistically hoping it might clear the next day for a summit attempt. We made friends with an American climber named Marcus who hung out with us for a while, and kindly took our photo with about 8 different cameras. This one was from Jackson's camera.
