Having summited Mailbox Peak, myself, I can vouch for it being a great conditioning hike for bigger mountains. Although not really technical, the impressive elevation gain and wonderful views (on a clear day) make this summit hike worthwhile.
One Question: Was the infamous mailbox at the summit? It was not there the last couple of times I went.
