Weed Hike Lol  Sucess!

4:44 C2C, great views of Rainier, Baker, and Glacier Peak! Can clearly see Seattle, Bellevue, Mt. Si, and I-90. Can faintly see the Olympic Range.

First COVID freedom climb  Sucess!

2.5 hrs up the old trail with a handful of others, 2.5 hrs down the new. A little bit of snow holding on the new trail, old trail clear. Bluebird day, and definitely felt all 3900' of vert

New Trail  Sucess!

Beautiful day and a packed trail. Summit was very crowded. Still had some amazing views.

Good Hike  Sucess!

Good Hike. Snow started at the rock field. Slick. Microspikes were ok. Balled up a bit with the slushy snow. Easy to get off course on the way up the old trail. Great loop up the old down the new.

4th and Fastest Summit @2:18. Sad new trail allows too many people up.   Sucess!

Climbed the New Trail  Sucess!

After years of avoiding this one, I finally did it. Quite the grunt, with not too much reward until the very end. Couldn't imagine doing it on a hot day.

Great conditioner  Sucess!

Old route up, knee-saving new route down. Surprisingly good weather for January. Only a bit of snow at the top -- microspikes were more than enough.

The new trail SUCKS  Sucess!

Up the old, down the new. Will never do the new trail again.

Poky Little Puppy  Sucess!

Don't know why I was dragging ass yesterday but so it was it took me 3 hours to summit via the Old Trail.

Saw several folks slip-sliding down from the summit in sneakers, T-shirts, and stretch pants (really -- please do not be that guy).

Stellar in-your-face views of Rainier from the top. The mailbox just barely poked out of the snow.

Descended via New Trail. Got back to my car after dark in time to see a local official pulling up. He warned me that if I had arrived much later that SAR would have been summoned. Word to the wise.

Great Hike  Sucess!

Great hike, and great views. I had the summit all to myself for about 20 minutes. Took the short trail on the way down. It was killer on the knees.

Old up, new down  Sucess!

Started at 3:30 am and hiked to the summit by 5:30 for sunrise, only it was completely socked in and no views. Didn't see another person until 7:30. Back to the car by 8:00. Done

About what I expected  Sucess!

2.5 hours up via old trail, 1.5 hours down via new trail. The weather was pretty dismal (cloudy, windy and raining starting at around 1:00), but we still saw about 25 other people making their way up.

Fun hike. Super crowded at the summit.

No real flat ground  Sucess!

on this one. Straight up on trail that is surprisingly good, after hearing all of the horror stories. I could see how it could be difficult on a rainy day, as it would be super slippery. Did this one with Maddie, and really enjoyed the in your face view of Rainier.

February on Mailbox  Sucess!

Incredibly nice for a late February climb. Snow-free up top...a little scary for 4800ft this time of year.

Training  Sucess!

Was getting ready for an attempt on Rainier that never materialized. Too cloudy at the summit to see anything.

new trail  Sucess!

I was led to believe this was 5 miles round trip but the new trail is more like 8 miles.

local workout  Sucess!

Loved this steep hike up to mailbox peak. Great for a local workout. Lots of roots but plenty of good steps and trees to grab along the way, gaining elevation very quickly. Will be back with a pack several times, I am sure.

Great workout, great view and lots of people  Sucess!

Hit the summit under 2 hours. Great pull and made me feel alive. A whole lot of people were on the trail. One guy had his 3 year old strapped to his back (sucker). Great training, but not the greatest to get away from civilization.
