Looking WNW toward the Mt. Baker Ski Area on Oct. 3, 1999. I've known of this ski area opening as early as late October. It typically receives a lot of snow in winter. In fact, it achieved the
world record for the most snowfall in a calendar year (93 ft, 8 inches) in 1998-1999. That's probably why there is
still snow on the ridge crest at left (Pt. 5520+ at the head of Razor Hone Creek).
