Nice!

Great shot. Your summit logs sound almost identical to what we experienced on Strawberry Mtn. White caps on Strawberry Lake helped confirm that I made a good choice by turning around ;-) All the fresh snow sure made for an incredible climb on Sunday though. Also, enjoyed your posting on easy winter climbs, good topic.

Re: Nice!

Thank you!

I actually read your entry on Strawberry Mtn. earlier in the week and also saw the similarity in the weather we experienced. We too had our doubts whether we were going to climb anything after it started coming down on us on Saturday around noon. But Sunday morning weather improved (temporarily) and we were "suckered" into going ahead with the climb (got caught in some thick clouds later in the day...but still a fun climb). I noticed that the weather looking roughly south from the Wallowas (roughly towards Strawberry) looked clearer. Did you guys have a full day of good weather on Sunday?

Yeah, seems the summer is over. Thought that it might be fun/useful to see what people climb in the winter eps. when the weather is less than ideal.

Re: Nice!

Yeah, the weather actually held for us the entire outing. It looked like anytime clouds would swallow us up, but it was as if the mountain was splitting the clouds and repelling them. It was odd, there was nasty looking weather all around us, but plenty of sun on us!
