Re: this looks like a fun routeThanks Radek. It is indeed an enjoyable route. You should check it out next time you are in the Valley. Although, you'll probably be leading 5.9s by then :)

Re: this looks like a fun routenot likely Misha regarding those 5.9's !!
it'll be even longer before I can lead VALLEY 5.9's :)
Looks like you guys had very nice weather last weekend? Though Gl. Point Apron looks a bit...chilly still in your photo.

Re: this looks like a fun routeHave you tried leading After Six (5.7) on Manure Pile Buttress? You may enjoy it... we will probably try it this spring/summer. If you want to test your 5.9 Valley skills, Grant's Crack on Swan Slab may be a good place for it. It is relatively short (~80'), very well protected and sustained. The weather in the Valley was FANTASTIC. We loved it so much so we are now changing our upcoming weekend plans and hoping to head back. My next lead on the agenda is either Swan Slab Gully (5.7) or Munginella. We may check out the Leaning Tower Traverse (5.7?) if we feel adventurous.

Re: this looks like a fun routeMisha,
thanks for the recommends. Would love to try After Six.....that and Royal Arches are high on our list of Valley climbs (though we could make it out there early April but unfortunately "no go").
Let's just say that I have no "5.9 Valley skills" to test yet :) - I'd be very happy with After Six for now!

Re: this looks like a fun routeLet me know when you guys want to come over next time. We can hang out and climb something together!

Re: this looks like a fun route....sorry for the typo Misha - that was meant to say "I thoughT we could make it there in April" but we can't.
That would be great. If we have a climbing trip to Valley in the future maybe we could get together for After Six or another route.

Re: this looks like a fun routeJust my input:
When you do get to Yosemite 5.9, let 'Commitment' be your first one. This route was done by Jim Bridwell and is very solid for it's grade and has many classic aspects about it! BTW, that was my first trad 5.9.

Re: this looks like a fun routeSo how does old school Valley 5.9 compare to current routes at a crag with "regular" ratings like Smith, Red Rocks, City of Rocks, Squamish, etc.? I think someone told me 2 full grades once, ie.10B. Any truth to that?
