Lick Wash, Grand Staircase Escalante NM

During our holiday we spent several days in Grand Staircase Escalante National Monument. We did several day hikes here, of which the hike into Lick Wash was one of the highlights. The Lick Wash Trailhead is located on the Skutumpah Road, which is a dirt road, which was in September 2015 very good passable. We were lucky enough to have a few dry days inn the park, which is essential when doing such a hike. The weather was still very hot, so well prepared, with lots of water and sufficient snacks, we headed our way into the Canyon. The hike itself can be continued several miles. However, close to the end, we decided to do a little off road hike up one of the Canyon walls, which turned out to be one of the highlights of the hike itself. Beautiful rock formations with many colours opened up to us. It was a pity that we had to leave this beautiful and peaceful place, but we went back to our car feeling very lucky that we had done this hike in this pristine wilderness.
