"As an adolescent I aspired to lasting fame, I craved factual certainty, and I thirsted for a meaningful vision of human life - so I became a scientist. This is like becoming an archbishop so you can meet girls."

Lingering July snowDrove an SUV on the dirt road that leads to the peak and parked at the locked gate that's approximately a quarter mile from the summit. The remaining quarter-mile hike to the top was pretty straightforward, but I did see a few patches of snow, which is quite unusual at this elevation and latitude in July. The lookout tower at the top is no longer in use, but at the time I was there, you could climb the ladder to the second story and enjoy the views from there. After visiting the tower, I climbed the small pile of rocks a short distance to the south, which marked the highest natural point.

Ocean to Peak Adventures: Mountain Summit Challenge 2023, Peak #8Went up with two others. We did it without snowshoes, but it was a mixture of dry sagebrush, class 2 rocks, and snow.
