La grande Moucherolle

Overview

La grande Moucherolle (2284m) is the second highest montain of Vercors after Grand Veymont (2341m) but is the only one to have Alpine aspects. There are lots of hicking possibility arround. Vercors is the most West part of the Alps to have summits over 2000m.It's part of Dauphiné region. It is 60 Km long (N-S) and 40 KM large (W-E) and is like a fortress 1000m higher than valleys. It is borded by cliff and canyons and has only one easy access on NE side.

Pas de l'Oeille (1960 m) hicking tour

Pas de l'Oeille (1960 m) Vercors -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Duration: A day Difficulty: Easy. Points of interest: Pleasant walk through a varied landscape of conifers, Alpine meadows and lapies in a still unspoilt area of the northern Vercors. From the Pas, there is a remarkable view of the sheer rock walls of the Deux Soeurs. Public transport: VFD bus no. 510. Get off at Villard-de-Lans. Car: From Fontaine, take the D 531 towards Villard-de-Lans. Map: IGN Top 25 no. 3236 OT. Didier Richard 1:50 000, no. 12. Vertical climb: 900 m Climbing time: 3h15. Total time: 5 hours. Getting there: From the bus stop, head for the village square and take the pedestrian street on the right. Keep on to a crossroads and head for Les Pierres. From there, take the track running along the right bank of the Fauge stream. Drop down to the bridge (Pont de l'Amour) to join up with the GR91 (red and white markings). Cross the bridge and follow the GR along the left bank of the stream as far as a surfaced track from Les Clots hamlet. Leave the GR and take this track, which eventually turns into a pathway. Keep on up the Fauge valley, ignoring the right fork (Collet des Clots) and round a small outcrop. Just afterwards, the path runs below the Fauge chalet and continues southwards through marshy fields to the bottom of the Charbonnière coomb. A steep path climbs up the coomb, over scree, as far as the intersection with the Peronnard footpath at the foot of a rocky ridge. Head right (southwards), parallel to the Arêtes du Gerbier ridge. At the intersection, climb the lapies on the left up to the Pas de l'Oeille. Getting back: Via the same route, in 2 hours. The path back via Côte 2000 (ski resort) is of no interest for nature-lovers.
