La calle por Casa Blanca
Took the Casa Blanca Route, thru Paso del Caballero, across de valley and all the way to the Top. It was cloudy and rainy all the way, so we didn't get to see a lot until our way back (same route) it was about 30km total... I'd love to go there by El Jonuco.

My first ascent
This was my first experience up a mountain, so this place is special. We started from el Jonuco, a team of 4, and have no idea about our start time, but were at Puerto el Cuervo by 7:24 PM, so we decided to camp there. It was a cold night, had a great hot dinner of rice and salmon. Went to bed early, and woke up, cleared camp, and continued to the top. We were at the summit and it was cold, in the 40/50 F, around 10 C, but there was a lot of wind which made it colder. Once there we signed our names and headed back home.
It was a long descent for me, I over packed and carried low shoes more appropriate for scrambles, so my toes were constantly banging the top and got black nails, which made it even harder to walk.

Via El Jonuco- El Cuervo
Made five hours at a leisure pace to the summit. Very cold but sunny. Camped at the summit one night. Excellent wheather, minus 3-4 C at night without the wind factor.
We are still training to go to Pico de Orizaba, today we have to deal with the rain...it stop until we arrived to the port (half of the way)...on the summit the weather was windy and a little cold (10 celsius degrees).

El Jonuco
Beautiful view of Chipinque, El Sapo, La Huasteca, and MTY city. Hiked with Matthew...best companion. To get us through the gate it was not just the 'white lie' but also the 50 pesos helped.

El Jonuco
Hiked this with my gf and a very friendly hiker named Jorge we met at the trailhead. Had a little trouble getting past the security gate, but a little white lie or two got us through. :-)
Just a walk up, but the views are great--wonderful views of El Sapo and the Sierra Madre, and some beautiful meadows and pines near the summit.

Our group, Camaleonex from Nuevo Laredo, Mex. summited today for the second time. Camped at La Calle by the flagpole. Very nice weather, wind was calm, temperature at night droped to 32 F. Got a great, 360 degrees view of the Sierra Madre. Hiked down via Puerto de Oyameles. Our guide, as always, was Juan Guzman.

Summited via this long but interesting route along with some friends on a warm and sunny day. Nice views toward La Viga and the rest of the Sierra Madre. We headed down via the El Jonuco route.

We started from El Jonuco, a posh developement deep inside a canyon, Houses looked like alpine chalets. Weather was humid and cool, very foggy. Hikked up for about four hours. No water, though. By the summit, at "La Calle" there is space for a lot of tents. It was very windy and cold. It went from 49 to 32 in not time after sunset. On the way up, the views of the clouds covering everything, but the tallest peaks in the distance, was beautiful. There is a tin-walled refuge after the summit, on the way to Casablanca route, fit for maybe 6 climbers. We returned through this route, tooks us 7 hours (with 40-43 pounds backpacks). The vistas are incredible, the Paso del Caballero is impresive. About hour and a half is spent jumping from rock to rock on a dry river bed. Is very worthy. There is water on this route!, part of trail is by a black PVC pipe that carries the water for some community, and there are several concrete water wells. The route ends at Saltillo-Monterrey highway.
