Long story...
To sum it up, it was more important to me to finish the trip loving the mountains and wanting to go back, than to make it to the summit. The physical part was really easy. Hiking, carrying gear, cooking, camping.. piece of cake. I acclimatized really well, felt great, strong, and aside from one "off-day" had no troubles making it up to 21,000 ft on my own. Then I had the choice of decending with a group of friends I had met, and have company on the way out and people to party with afterward, or stick around and maybe meet someone to go for the summit with, maybe not; maybe get good weather, maybe not. I was feeling very emotionally drained at that point from having been fundamentally on my own for three weeks already, and I just wanted to leave happy and with a group of good friends.
I'll go back, next time with a team who are all on the same page.
