Koloon Bastak VZ SarakchalFinally I think you are right, unlike some maps and what most people think Koloon is 4156 m and Sarakchal is 4210 ! this is clearly obvious when you look at them from Tochal summit even thought Koloon is a little closer. maybe the mistake is because Koloon looks so impressive and the Sarakchals look so shallow.

Re: Koloon Bastak VZ SarakchalThe numbers that I quoted appear on both the Iranian 1:50 000 maps and on the Gita Shenasi schematic map of Central Alborz. Even the Soviet Military map shows that Sarak Chal is 4210 m and Koloon 4152 (The Iranian maps say 4156, Koloon Bastak is apparently also known as Khortooak). I saw them both from Tochal last summer and like you say, from that angle, you can see that Sarak Chal is higher.
Seems like you have had tons of snow this year. That is great! I am dying to see a picture of Tochal right after snow fall in Tehran, may be from Mellat Park or upper Modaress Expressway...

Snow !Wow it's great, 80cm 90cm snow at velenjak, Tehran looks great, reminds me my childhood when we had snow even more than this. today for a while the sky got sunny, even the rocky parts where white. I'm waiting for a clear sky to go up the tele. and take pictures from the Tochal's.
