Jalovec from the west

Jalovec from the west

It is still winter, but sunny days and clear skies are already giving the feeling thar spring is close. But the bold Jalovec is still covered with snow. By the west ridge (left skyline) a medium hard ferrata from Kotovo sedlo (saddle) goes to the top). February 4th, 2007.

Re: Beautiful rock face!!

Jalovec is quite popular from all sides, but not just easy from any. The shortest ascent goes up from Vrsic pass (on some places also ferrata), the other very popular from the north, from Tamar valley through the famous Jalovec couloir (45 deg.), then also by the west ridge (medium hard ferrata). And all ascents are long.

Zivijo!

Re: Jalovec...

I think no one knows Vid :-) OK, some shots are instant winners but with 99% you really can't judge how people will react to it. Some shots that seam to me just average turn out very popular and some that I consider very good pass unnoticed :-) For example I like this one but reaction was quite modest. When I posted this shot I really didn't expect any reaction and thought it would pass unnoticed, especially because it is from not very popular mountain, but it ended up as my most popular shot! I had exactly the same feeling with the 'behind the waterfall' shot and it ended up being my second most popular shot. It's funny :-)

Re: Jalovec...

OK, what is sure is a good head start. If the picture succeeds to be picture of the hour, it's a promise. Otherwise it has no chance, no matter how good it is. And becoming POTH is usually only a matter of one or two votes.

Great shot

This magnificent mountain has many very different faces. You caught one of the most beautiful.
Looking for additional snow, your Andrej

Re: Great shot

Yes, Andrej, Jalovec is beautiful. And it's easy now with these new cameras to take pictures. You can allways play with a strong zoom, do many shots and then take only the best one etc.

Do you know whom we met in the morning on the road? Marijana & Marko. She was not feeling good, so he went up alone - skiing down from Kostrunove spice. He really walks fast and must also be a good skier!

Impressive!

One of these days I've got to go back to the Julische Alpen...I was once on Triglav, but wasn't as lucky with the weather as one might have wished...
