Ira Spring

Ira Spring

This is a rare shot of Ira Spring, taken at Camp Muir in 1969 outside the guidehut. Ira took tons of photographs (100 hike series) but according to his family was rarely photographed himself. Here he is chatting with Adi Weisensteiner, a guide from Europe who worked for RMI in 1969. Ira put on a special photography seminar which when combined with the talents of Lou Whitaker who agreed to head up the glacier work for him, was an outstanding experience for a fortunate few. I was one of the lucky participants. Aug. 1969
