| The tower and Price Glacier... | [ Sizes: Orig | Med | Small | Thumb ] |
The tower and Price Glacier from our camp at 5,900 feet, early
evening. The wisps of cloud developed into fairly thick fog by
morning. We left camp just after dawn, crossing the glacier, guided
by the glow of sunlight on the snow gully above. Learn more about
fear and loathing in Derek's trip
report.

Voted 10/10 | Your entire collection of Nooksack and Shuksan photos are outstanding! I will definitely plan a trip to Shuksan this summer. | | Posted Feb 10, 2005 10:44 am |
 | | vangogh | Re: A great collection of photos | | Hasn't voted | I know!! I downloaded Shuksan mountain on webshots and I didn't even know that mountain was in Washington? So I looked it up and found this site and now I want to go see it!! This Summitpost website is very cool! | | Posted Feb 16, 2005 1:06 am |

Hasn't voted | Seems you're not the only one who doesn't know it's in Washington. I once saw a fanfold postcard set of California scenes that included the classic view of Shuksan from Picture Lake in the Mount Baker Ski Area. It was captioned "The rugged High Sierra mountains."
Welcome to SummitPost. I'm new here, too, and it keeps surprising me with the depth of info, the beauty of the photos, and the friendliness of its people.

 | | vangogh | Re: A great collection of photos | | Hasn't voted | Thats cool!! I forgot about this website it's been so long I tried so many times to log in again, I forgot my login name. Any ways I am going up there this memorial weekend to check Shuksan Mt. out!! I hope it's not snowing or anything? Do you know the weather web site for that area? Thanks TR Are you from Washington State? | | Posted May 19, 2005 7:55 pm |

Hasn't voted | Let's hope it clears up a bit in the next week. There's a weather forecast link in the last line of the Mountain Conditions paragraph of the Shuksan page. This morning it says this weekend will be mostly cloudy with showers, snow level at 5,000 Sat. and 4,500 Sun.
Yes I'm from Washington. Burlington is on I-5, a half-hour S of Bellingham. It's been a wet spring, after a warm, dry winter here. But that low snow level isn't likely to last. By next Wed. NOAA is calling for mostly clear skies with a snow level around 8,000'. Good luck. Shuksan is challenging even in good weather.

Hasn't voted | Thanks! It's such a beautiful place, it's hard to go wrong on the pictures. And being in a threesome meant more time for photography between pitches. Though there's a drawback to that, as Derek's trip report points out. | | Posted Feb 12, 2005 3:08 pm |
