Once you get up onto the summit ridge, you are treated to this view to the northwest. The lake is Höfðavatn and the peak is Storhöfði.

	Hasn't voted	Thanks, it was an amazing place. Although it was very volcanic with Columbia Gorge-like coastal fjords and a similar high desert interior like Oregon, it was very unique and different from anything I have ever seen before.

I must say that has to be the most spectacular landscape picture I've ever seen... and I'm totally biased towards my own photos :-) Was it enhanced? The colors almost look alien. What is the speck of white in the middle of the mountain... I assume snow?

	Hasn't voted	Yeah, that was snow. Most of the higher brown mountains had lots of snow on them, this peak was a bit lower in elevation. I did not enhance this one I don't think. I may have knocked the contrast up a notch but the colors are as you see them. It's just a cool place and the contrasting colors play off each other. Plus, I just got lucky and was in the right place at the right time. It was cloudy most of the day but at this moment, the sun broke through a slight horizontal opening in the clouds and it was like the rays were shining down on this particular mountain. Thanks for the nice words. I appreciate it.
