Hasn't voted | That is without exception the scariest looking chunk of rock and ice I have ever seen. | | Posted Jan 13, 2004 9:43 pm |

Hasn't voted | It does look pretty scary from this distance (photo was taken with a telephoto lens). You really get an idea of how steep its sides are. Actually, as you get closer to it this effect diminishes a bit. | | Posted Jan 14, 2004 6:56 am |

Hasn't voted | The peak to the left of K2 is Angel Peak, 6858m. There is a much clearer view of this peak on another of my K2 pictures on SP, the one taken from Broad Peak base camp. | | Posted Jan 14, 2004 6:44 am |

Hasn't voted | Actually looking right over Concordia, which is just an area on the Baltoro Glacier where it's possible to look up the Godwin Austen Glacier towards K2 as well as up and down the Baltoro. | | Posted Feb 5, 2004 5:49 am |

Voted 10/10 | wow,this one is perfect!!!
But I was wandering that why its only called as K2,the living people around the Karakoram call it as Chogir, and this is its original name.

Hasn't voted | It was dubbed K2 by the British geo survey in the early 1900's. K being Karakourum (the mt.range), and 2 being the second peak surveyed. Similarly, Everest was once known as Peak XV, rather than Chomolungma, the native moniker. | | Posted Mar 19, 2006 10:22 am |
