Bonneville Mountain?Bob,
Is that Bonneville Mountain in the center and Chief Joseph Mountain coming in from the right? If so, do you know what mountain is on the left there? I'm still hoping to get out there maybe late this coming summer and was just trying to figure out what the way in would look like. Thanks.
Brian

Re: Bonneville Mountain?Brian,
You are correct on Bonneville and Chief Joseph. The white-capped peak on the left is probably Mt. Howard, where the tram goes. Back in I believe 1976 or thereabouts a group of us climbed Howard, East Peak, Aneroid Mountain, Pete's Point, and Bonneville. Haven't had time to post any of them yet. And I don't have good pix because I didn't have the camera for another year after that. :-)

Re: Bonneville Mountain?Bummer. Sometime in August or so if I get the chance, I may take a 3 or 4 day weekend and head out there. I'll let you know when as you sounded interested in getting out there again. It would be neat to get a bunch of those peaks on the site.
Been a looooooooooong rainy season here, eh?

Re: Bonneville Mountain?Rainy indeed, until last week which was glorious!
Yeah, I'd love to go back there again. When we did Howard/East/Aneroid/Pete's Point/Bonneville we intended to do it as a traverse. But the first trip was horrible weather so we only got as far as Aneroid, traversing East Peak. The very next weekend we returned, climbed the west ridge of Aneroid, then turned about for Pete's Point and Bonneville. So we did accomplish the entire traverse, but on two trips.
I'll be a little short on time off this summer, which will be the problem. :-(

Re: Bonneville Mountain?Well, I'm stuck in an office during the week so I have to hope for nice weekends. Hopefully will get out and do something this weekend.
I'll have to check out your route on my maps. Sounds like you had a good plan there. Maybe you can help me out in planning a route later on this summer. I can take some photos in your honor. : - ] Originally I had planned on going in by the trail from this picture, down to the Matterhorn, up that and a traverse to Sacajawea. Then down Sac and back Hurricane Ridge hitting 2 or 3 peaks to the west of the trailhead (can't remember their names right now). Was going to do that over a 3 day weekend. We'll see though, your route sounds much more summitfilled!
Thanks,
Brian

Re: Bonneville Mountain?Hi,
A friend and I made a trip out in 2000, we had what would have been a great 16 day loop through the wilderness. We drove around to stash food,we entered in from East Eagle trailhead, camped on top of Eagle Cap under the stars the second night, hiked to Wallowa lake SP, my feet gave out after four days and had to hike back in three days. Stayed 7 days altogether, had a great loop planned but unfortunately fell through. Could send a copy if interested.
Peace
greg

Re: Bonneville Mountain?Sounds awesome. Would love to check it out. I made it to Wallowas a couple months ago and hiked in and did Matt. and part of Sac. but want to head back later this year or next summer again. Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
