Crossing a frozen river
On the way to the Qangringngoinza Massif.
Crossing a semi-frozen river in the middle of the Chang Tang in 2003. This time it was ok to cycle on the thin ice. At other times the ice broke.

Sometimes I saw real mirages. Once it was really weired. I saw a truck very far away and it was there for a long time. All of a sudden it was gone.

I read your article "In to the unknown" on the Japanese Alpine News May 2007. It is so exciting and interesting. Thanks so much!
When I was young, I had very interesting for Chang Tang plateau where is unknown territorie like you, and made trip many timies on the map. But my plan had been not realized.
I realy respect you of action.
I wish you success in all your activities in the future.

I have not seen the article myself yet as I have been travelling for a long time. I'm glad you liked it.
The Chang Tang is for sure my favorite area on earth. So different, so untouched and so beautiful!

At the moment I'm in Lhasa, Tibet resting after about 70 days in the wilderness in the north. Have summited 9 peaks so far and cycled quite a bit (3300km), so now I need some time for rest. May stay here for more climbing or I may go to Argentina.
And, yes, I'm having a lot of fun :-)
