Hasn't voted | Bison Peak is near Tarryall Reservoir in the Retirement Range. I recommend John & Jennifer Roach's book on summit hikes in the Lost Creek Wilderness. I'm heading there this weekend, in fact. Happy hiking! | | Posted Apr 20, 2007 2:20 pm |

Hasn't voted | This area is amazing. I was here on a cloudy and overcast day, and the overabundant rock formations made it even more eerie and Mars-like. Nice one! | | Posted May 4, 2007 4:13 am |

Hasn't voted | Thanks for the feedback. I love these mountains. They may not be as grand as the 14ers around the state, but they make up for it with their...strangeness of rock formations. | | Posted May 4, 2007 4:01 pm |

Voted 10/10 | That looks really fun to climb. How did it get there?

Hasn't voted | Mark,
Here is more Summit Post information about Bison Peak.

This monolith in the photo is near the summit of Bison Peak.
From a geological standpoint, Bison Peak and McCurdy Mountain and others in the area are part of the same "uplift" that formed Pikes Peak. Amazing!
Keep hiking!
