I found Wheeler Peak to have...

I found Wheeler Peak to have a different look from the road as it turns north and heads away from Major's Place junction. Recent snow had given it a nice wintry coat higher up and Jefferson Davis Peak can be just barely seen to Wheeler's left.

Good addition to Wheeler

my map says Major's Place is about 14 miles WNW of Wheeler.

Re: Good addition to Wheeler

Your map is correct. The spot I took the photo from is right at this bend of US 6 / 50 where it swings

northerly about 8 or 9 miles from Major's junction.

Thanks for your comment.

Re: Good addition to Wheeler

Here I see roads leading towards the mountain. It seems like the steep side is climbable. Is it not?

Re: Good addition to Wheeler

I remember looking down from the saddle when I climbed Wheeler the previous year and wondering about those roads. One came fairly close up to the base. My understanding is however, that those roads are on private property and not open to the public. It would certainly be climbable.
