On paper...

...that looks like a gawd awful bushwhack to 12,740 D (assuming you went clockwise). Was it?

Hi Andy, nice to hear from you. If it was a bushwhack I would let you know for sure since I'm not into talking up a route unless its a good one. No there was absolutely no bushwhacking. In fact, although it was an avy path there wasn't any downfall either. There were a few sections of willows but there was always a game trail that would escort me through the stuff. Maybe you can't see it because I drew my route over it, but the avy path is very skinny.

One more thing, the treed green areas on the topo are actually aspen trees with an a few evergreens around. I spied this route a long time ago from Sievers Mountain across the way. I've had pretty good success ascending Elk Range aspen laden slopes. The spacing of the trees in this area is typically good. Now, ascending an aspen laden slope in the Sangres is a much different story.
