Just a little tip

for a guy who likes to have fun.
If you tuck your jacket tail into your pants while glissading you keep the snow from getting into your under-clothing.
Looks like a great fun.

Re: Just a little tip

Thanks :) Glissading that morning was actually very short-lived since the sun hadn't hit the slope yet and it was very icy. I had learned my lesson the year before when I glissaded down Adams and put a hole through my pants and tights and took off a lot of skin (my butt was numb so I didn't notice). I found out when my climbing partner asked why I had red icicles hanging off the hole in my pants. Definitely my most painful climbing injury ever.

Red icicles! That is some incredible story to remember and cherish. What's important is that you're okay, and still climbing.

Re: Just a little tip

I badly tore my hamstring a few years ago playing Thanksgiving football and I'm still not sure which injury hurt worse...the glissading one made it so I couldn't sit for almost a month because of the amount of flesh that got removed. In all, I glissaded down about 2500' with bare skin on rough ice. It's funny now but I still cringe when I see the photo. I still glissade, but only on soft snow and I check my backside often :)
