Hoher Riffler (main summit)
Very long hike from Pettneu via the normal route to the south summit and short climb to the main summit. To reach the main summit one has to cross a steep and exposed chasm (UIAA II+).

Very long day
We've hiked Hoher Riffler on a 25km route. Start in Diasbahn upper station in Kappl, through Schmalzgrubenjoch to Edmund Graf Hutte and then to the summit. Our route back was through Kapplerjoch to the town of Kappl. Way to the summit seems to be easy, however loose stones in coloir before the Riffler Pass were very scary.
Another difficulty on our way to summit was the sun: temperature in coloir was definietly higher than 30'C
Nevertheless the view is worth an effort :)
Reached the summit with my whole family (and many others). This was the first time that I reached the true summit. Out of at least 50 people that were on/near the summit area when we summited, only 2 (including me) reached the true summit since it includes a short class 5.4 climb.
Route Climbed: Normal Route Date Climbed: Summer 1995
Reached the summit in a group of 6-8 climbers with a guide. The tour was organized by the hotel Gridlon in Pettneu. There was a fair amount of snow in the chute and knee deep snow between the chute and the summit.
