Overview

This route reach, trough the Cornabusa pass, m. 1940, where star the climbing normal route to Camino peak summit m 2491.
The way is in a middle mountain area, with cow houses and alpine house that now are used only for pleasure in the week ends or in summer.
But if you prosecute the landscape changes and near the Camino peak you are in a beautiful wilderness area. The rocky Camino peak group east face is impressive and dominate yourself and your hiking and if you are in good equipment condition, give you the possibility to reach is summit.

Getting There

Motorway A4 Torino Venezia, until Bergamo gate. Then follow for Seriana Valley, Clusone, Castione della Presolana. Follow for Presolana Pass and descent in the scalve valley. Prosecute direction Dezzo di Scalve (not follow the road for Colere), until reach the road who follow the Dezzo river. Here, take the road for Schilpario and after few take the road on your left, a bridge across the Dezzo river. Here follow for Azzone. At Azzone prosecute passing all the town until the indication for Bosco del Giovetto di Palline Natural Forest. Here stop your car. Indication for Camino Peak are here. Route Description

Path 425
Pian dei Ballerini
This route starts from the little town of Azzone, m 975 in the Scalve valley.
From here, you can find the route, path CAI n. 425, at the end of the town, near the entrance of the “Bosco del Giovetto” Natural Forest.
From here, follow indicationd for Cornabusa pass, Camino peak, Varicla pass.
At first, the path is in a fir-woods, in the Nena valley.
Follow the path until you reach an open place, reach of a wonderful blooming of crocus flowers, called Pian dei ballerini m 1600.
Here, the view is, in front of you, around the Camino Peak group, with the Presolana group beyond, at south west.
Walk in a plane place until “Fienile (barn) Le Some”, where you find a crossroad with other differents paths.
Follow the 425 path, that prosecute in a large way with alternance of grassland and woods, passing near differents cow-houses and pasture lands.
The landscape changes with the altitude and rocks leave place at the wood.
The Camino group is now in front of you and dominate the valley.
Prosecute along the path for a little, until you find the Cornabusa pass.
From here, you can prosecute for the Varicla pass, m. 2097 until Laeng hut m 1760, path 422, or by path 423, if you’re equipped, you can follow the alpine tracks for the Camino peak summit.
It’s not difficult, but experience and mountain equipment are indispensable.
The return in on the same way or, after Cornabusa pass, you can reach the town of Schilpario, m. 1175 by path 423 or following paths 424 until crossroad with 422 and take the 422 until the town.
