Lago Nero Hut
Indications
Aviasco valley is a lateral valley of Seriana valley situated in a beautiful area with great view around the orobians mountains.
Here the human presence was intense in the past and now you can see what remains of the buildings for the exploitation of waters who serve the Aviasco power station.

Getting There

Motorway A4 Torino Venezia, until Bergamo gate. Then, follow for Val Seriana, direction Valbondione, Ardesio Gromo. Before Gromo take the road on the left for Valgoglio. Here, at the end of the city follow the road for Bortolotti, until the end of the road, where you can park. Here start the path 228.

Route Description

Buildings
The route starts from the little village of Bortolotti, mt 1139, few ancient houses at the end of the road.
From here, take the path CAI n. 228 - 268 for Aviasco’s lake, that it follows for a short feature one lead forced then it enters in a fir and bleech wood and calmly take quote, passing under the water forced conduct. Walk in the wood until his end, where you reach a plane area used, in summer for honey’s beehives.
From here, the path change. The wood leave place at solitaries larches and bilberry and rhododendron shrubs. The path is more step and rocky, following the water pipeline who brings water from the artificial lakes of Aviasco’s valley until the Aviasco’s power station.
From here, the path offer to you a great view around the orobian mountains.
Prosecute, climbing the path until you reach the Succotto’s lake, the first of the five lakes, with his dam and his structure. Here you can find the ancients buildings, houses and warehouses used in the past by the workers and a new house where leave the caretaker of the systems.

From here is possible an hiking ring around the lakes, taking path n. 22 on the left, or the path on the right of the Succotto’s dam.
We prosecute around path n. 268, left way, for the Lago Nero (black lake) where you can find one of the two huts of the area (Capanna Lago Nero Hut). Now you’re on the base of the Lago Nero dam, the biggest dam of the route.
From here the path prosecute passing near all the others lakes, Aviasco with his beautiful ancient dam the only one you cross by.
From here start the path CAI 229, from Aviasco pass mt 2289 to the Baita Cernello hut, passing near the high Campelli and the low Campelli lakes, whit his beautiful view around Monte Cabianca, mt 2610 and the Presolana peak far away, until the Cernello lake. From here, path 230 take it until the Calvi hut, passing Monte Segnale peak, mt 2185, Portula pass, mt 2278 and if you want, with a little deviation until the Monte Madonnino peak, mt 2502.
But for the ring, prosecute path 229 who reach the Succotto’s lake and the end of the ring. From here the same path leave you at Bortolotti. The Hiking route is about 5 hours, with pause and meditation around the beautiful landscape of this beautiful place.

When to go

Beautiful in spring for flowers, good in summer because water help you in the hot sun, fantastic in autumn when people desappear and you are alone, in the nature. In winter you can find great snow, so, if you have good alpine experience, try it. For all the times, trekking gear and potable water a lot.
