Good Page. I climbed just such a knob of the same name in SW Virginia near Big Stone Gap across from Black Mtn. Kentucky- We had a 69 Beetle and while we were admiring the view-someone had tried to pry open the rear
butterfly type window with a screw driver. Nothing gone but my wariness of a parked car increased. There was a little pond up there and great views just as there is from this high knob.
Looking at maps and sat images, there seems to be a gravel parking lot for a trailhead and trail marked as "High Knob Trail". This is just on the WV side as Rt 33 takes a switchback.

Untitled CommentYeah. Apparently the mountain you climbed is / was being logged. Do a search on High Knob Virginia for details.

A more direct route?Looking at maps and sat images, there seems to be a gravel parking lot for a trailhead and trail marked as "High Knob Trail". This is just on the WV side as Rt 33 takes a switchback.

Re: A more direct route? Thanks for catching that. I plan on adding some routes to this page in 2013.
