Cute (#6)
On my way to Golden, CO I decided to make a couple stops. Stop 1 was Hawkeye Point. I love this highpoint. They have made something fun out of it. It was a little rainy, so I had the place to myself to look around for a while.

Another high point that works for it
Kudos to all that worked on the place. However, the real high point for me was the steak I had in Sibley after the visit.

After working in WI, heading back to home state of IL, decided to take a side route to hit the IA HP. Neat set up for such a low HP, even though there was little to no view.

Highpoint # 29
Fourth of four highpoints during a road trip from Minneapolis. I was pelleted by frozen rain pellets as I jogged from the parking area to the mosaic marker for some quick selfies. Because it was such a cold, windy, rainy morning, I didn't stay long, but loved my visit nonetheless. There were highpoint keychains for sale (honor system) near the log book, so take a few dollar bills if you are interested in one. Sadly I didn't have any cash on me, but it would have been a neat souvenir.

As long as you can make the drive, you can hit this state highpoint. Really cool little property though, and they take a lot of pride in the spot. The coolest part was the signs pointing to all the other state high points and how far away each one was.

Beautiful start to a late summer day at HP.
Was looking for a USGS Marker but instead there is a glass tiled representation of the State.

State highpoint #41
We had a great time at the highpoint, viewing platform by the silo, wildflower garden full of monarch butterflies, and miles and miles of John Deer Green!
I was impressed with how nice this flat highpoint was done up. Good job!

HP #39
First of two HP's on this trip. After flying into Sioux Falls, driving to Worthington for the night, it was only a 15 minute drive south the next morning. Luckily it is right off the road, since there was plenty of snow on the ground and I was in a POS rental.
Very nice of the people that donated the land, and the HP was very well done and marked.

Hawkeye Point...only 3,206 Miles away from Denali (someday!)
Flew to MKE and rented a car to hit the Midwest Lakes Area high points. Hawkeye Point was fourth of 5 for this trip. Drive to the trailhead is very straight forward. The HP is located in the middle of a working farm. There is a wonderful campground directly across the street. The water was hot and the showers were clean.

Highpoint #29
Beautiful day, quick stop on a drive from MD to Glacier National Park. Hit 4 state highpoints on this trip and several other national parks. Beautiful country in Iowa!

Temperature was -15
Obtaining this high point is pretty easy...despite snow drifts and -15 weather we checked off our second highpoint today. There was a windchill warning today, so we stayed just long enough to step on the highpoint, sign the log (barely, the pen didn't work) and trek back out to our car.
