Hampton Creek Route
The Hampton Creek Trailhead is reachable (as of August 2007) by a modest clearance vehicle. There are decent car-camp sites (two picnic tables) by a stream, on a road spur just S of the main trailhead. The hike to the top is then about 15 miles round-trip, with 5000' accumulated gain. The last mile or so near the summit follows a well-chosen herd path that diverges from the main trail.
