From Wimbachgrieshuette climed up to Palfelhorn - hiked down nice, remote valey and up to Ingolstaedter House (raining almost constantly) - hike up to summit next day - sunny! pretty long descent to Koenigssee
Route Climbed: Normal ascent (S-face) Date Climbed: July 20, 2002
A long, long walk: 32 kms, 2400 m in height, 16 hrs ...
We started at 6 a.m. in Wimbachbruecke/Berchtesgadener Land, walked through Wimbachgriess, had a little break in Wimbachgriesshuette, walked up to Hundstodgatterl pass, lost the right path, had to return some meters, were on the summit at noon. Brigitte made a little siesta, I jumped with Jessy, our dog, around the summit and made a lot of photos.
Then we descended to Ingolstaedter Haus, took a little lunch and hiked in best photo-light some hours back, always the impressive S-face of Watzmann in front of us. The last 2 hrs. in Wimbachtal were formidable. We reached our car at 10 p.m.
In spite of this it was a great and wonderful walk. Some of the photos of my Hundstod-page come from this long day.
