I loved the White Mountain Peak hike!
Some of my hiker friends gave me mixed reviews of this hike. No, it's not on a pristine single track. The guide on SummitPost is an excellent resource, and I have a trip report and turn by turn hike directions for White Mountain Peak on my blog too. Yes, it's beautiful and tough. I did the White Mountain Peak hike to prep for Mt Whitney, and it really helped. I had moderate AMS symptoms on White Mountain Peak that disappeared when when descended. Two days later when I did Mt Whitney, I (luckily) didn't have any problems with AMS.
