Glacier Scrapings

Glacier Scrapings

Seen on a climb of Point Saint Charles, this is a good example of recent glacier activity; the "scratches" visible here are the result of ice working its way over rock. There are several small glaciers left in the Missions, the largest of which is Sunset Glacier (on the Glacier Peaks). This particular example of glacial activity is relatively close to that glacier; the entire southern Missions (which includes Point Saint Charles) are filled with interesting visible documentation left behind by relatively recent glacial retreat.
