Georgia Mountains

Georgia Mountains

A view south from the large platform on top of Brasstown Bald, Georgia's highest mountain. Somewhere, in the next ridge or two, the Appalachian Trail winds through the mountains. This is the heart of the Georgia Appalachian Mountains. Also visible is the enormous parking lot on the southern shoulder of the mountain. A short 6/10 of a mile hike is required to get from the parking lot to the top. Overall, a good mountain, but the tourist spectacle the mountain has become I could have done without. (April 12, 2008)

Re: Thats a big...

It is kind of annoying. It wasn't much fun climbing up a ridge of the mountain to have to walk across a slab of pavement to reach the top. But there are other, more secluded places nearby.
