Froze-to-Death Plateau and Tempest Mountain (on the right) from the summit of Granite Peak on July 13, 2003. If you look close at the ridge crest just left of center, you can see a line diagonalling down and right from the shallow saddle. That line is the rough trail to the Tempest-Granite Saddle (for the East Ridge Route up Granite). The trail is rough because it traverses a steep talus field that's not all that stable.
