Can't remember when I climbed this. We took the trail up and then my friend decided to take us down the other side. We bushwacked through the backcountry and saw lots of wild cows. Somehow we made it back to the car. Crazy fun!

From Kingsbury Grade
For something different, we started at Kingsbury Grade on the Tahoe Rim Trail and hiked that to a bit past Star Lake, then hiked up what I will call the cable line canyon (the cables that used to serve the relay station that once was on Freel's summit poke up from the ground in places here), reaching the saddle just E of Freel. After tagging Freel, we tagged Jobs Sister and Jobs, then descended E to Carson Valley to complete the trip. It was a very windy day!

Great Hike
Took the Fay-Luther trail to Jobs peak, then hit Jobs Sister, and then on to Freel just over six thousand feet above the trailhead. A pretty tough hike thanks to the saddle between Jobs Peak and Jobs Sister -- total upward elevation gain for the day ended up around 8500 feet. Weather was excellent and the ground was mostly snow free.

Snow limited access
Thought I could sneak in a climb before the snow really came, but there was some fresh snow and my Camry couldnt make it anywhere near the trout creek trailhead.
Parked lower down, but it was a 2 hour hike to the trailhead and I ran out of daylight.
Pretty scenery tho, and had the place to myself.

Triple peak~
What a day...started on forest service rd. 51 with my husband & girlfriend heading clockwise towards Freel. We road the saddle to Job's Sister loving the views! The down from Job's sister was pretty steep...my quads complained for a few days afterwards...made it to Job's Peak which was shrouded in cloud! Managed to descend before the bad weather showed up!Loved the day~

Awesome Hike!
Came up from Pioneer Trail/Corral Trail to Armstrong Pass and up to Summit. Easy climb on beautiful trails. Very few other hikers/bikers. Gorgeous fall day and colors.
Did it with Job's Sister with a plan to get up Job's Peak as well, but ran out of time. For a Sierra Peak, Freel is easy, because there is no talus, or scree and it doesn't seem to create its own wind storm like some of the other peaks do. I recommend this peak to everyone and it seems like it would be a great ski peak as well.

First trip via Trout Creek October 1, 2006
Up via the Tahoe Rim Trail route, down the direct route in the gully. Very cold and windy on top, ran over the Job's Sister while I was there.

Trout Creek TH
Hiked this with the County Highpointers group. We ran into numerous parties ascending or descending the peak in beautiful weather. The direct descent down to Fountain Place along the obvious gully from the saddle is definitely the way to go. It also will go as an ascent route if you don't mind hiking up through the sandy sections. It will save time for a party who perseveres and is in good shape.

Stagecoach - Freel - Job's Peak Canyon
Out of Kingsbury to Star Lake; up Freel; descent towards Job's Sister; right hand flank to lip of Job's Peak Canyon - descent down through Job's Peak Canyon to trail head on Foothill Road near Minden/Gardnerville.
Suggestion - descent through the Canyon is quite challenging - off trail, rock-hopping, manzanita, steep grades. Keep to the right hand on the fringes of the pine trees wherever possible. Gloves/long trousers are useful. Expect 2-4 hours depending on fitness, fatigue, etc to decend completely.
