Dayhike
Parked on Highland Lakes Road about a half mile short of the lake when I became worried about the clearance on my 2wd. I quickly caught 5 brook trout in this active lake before packing away the rod and heading up. I hiked through the active campground and then the bell-ringing cows before gaining the ridge and eventually the summit. I was distracted the whole way up by the changing light of sunset, and stayed on the summit until dark. Very much enjoyed this solo trip to Folger. Looking forward to coming back for the other surrounding peaks.

Trail, mostly
There is a good trail at the end of the Highland Lakes camping area, the trail goes through the forest before turning up the ridge towards Folger. The trail becomes hard to follow for a bit but its easy to know where to go. The trail was better than expected, the only part that was crappy was the final 400 feet or so, on loose gravelly pebbles, although on a well defined trail. Descent was fast and easy.
From Highland Lakes. Warm day, great views and lots of flies at the summit.

Combo with Hiram on the same day. Not the most memorable, but fun, nonetheless.

South Scree
Running out of easy acclimatization peaks around Yosemite and points south, I decided to head up to Ebbetts Pass to knock off a few in the Carson-Iceberg Wilderness: Folger, Hiram, Airola, and Iceberg. Not particularly good climbs or memorable views, but I suppose they can't all be classic weekends in the mountains. At least this was a short day, because the drive down to Bishop was very long.

Hiked to the top while camping in the area. Nice hike, even though my wife and dog stayed behind to wait for me. This is an easy peak, even for chubby folks like myself.
Took my neighbor for his first trip to the Sierra. Great peak to start out. Pretty easy climb to the top. Just one fairly steep area approaching the saddle near 9600'. We tried to avoid this steep part on the way back down by following the trail to the right off this saddle. The trail ended this way and we ended up going down a fairly steep slope anyway. I marked the coordinated to the trail head: N38 29.380' W 119 48.517 . It is just behind campsite number 4. More precise coordinates to the summit are: N 38 29.749' W 119 48.983'.

Fun warmer-upper climb with a bunch of non-peak-bagging friends. It was pretty windy and cold for much of the hike, but the views were pretty good, and it was nice to have an easily-bagged peak for once! We continued onwards to Hiram Peak.

The south ridge is abominably loose near the top.
