February 5th, 2005 - Joe Bullough tempting fate high on Mt Timpanogos. Notice the cracking beside our tracks behind the cornice above Joe's head - luckily it was there before us!

Awesome Work

I love this photo, Joe looks like a wild man there! This is my favorite of all photos in your trip report, which was also very well done. What a rugged mountain.

Re: Awesome Work

Thanks for the kind words - I've always been bad at writing trip reports, but now that I've got a got template down, it should be easier to keep up with them. I'll also be writing a lot of old ones in the weeks to come.

I imagine that Joe and I will have plenty of more wild photos like that - this winter we're planning on traversing the entire massive, so we'll be hiking along that rugged ridgeline for miles!

Re: Awesome Work

I was too cold to be wild :)

Re: Awesome Work

I will be looking foward to both "new-old" trip reports and more stinking sweet photos! Oh, I also noticed the heart that it took to attempt a snow-bouldering climb with "base camp" and towering peaks "far" in the background. :-D

Re: Awesome Work

Thanks for noticing my profile pic - Joe and I got some better photos, but water on the camera lense ruined them! To reaffirm your observation of Joe as a wildman, you can see where the cornice is starting to crack alongside our tracks above his head (camera right)!.

Re: Awesome Work

I hate that when you get water on the lense! That happened on all of my photos on an adventure up Medicine Bow Peak here in Wyoming, but thankfully it wasn't so bad and I still enjoy them. As for the crack, it is most impressive, once again Wild Men, nice work.

Great report!

Oh man, all of those Everest Ridge pics make me salivate. Great work up the middle of "the step."

Re: Holy awesome shot!

Thanks! I can't wait to get back up there to do the whole ridge traverse this winter!

BTW, how're the mountains around Vancouver? I've been wanting to get out there for a while now.

Re: Holy awesome shot!

Just got back from an alpine touring weekend in Whistler. Was in the Baker area two weeks ago, and Garibaldi over new years.

All this less than two hours from downtown Vancouver. Pretty sweet!

Lots of great stuff around Vancouver. Let me know when you are coming up.

Re: Holy awesome shot!

I've been on the road for business these past few days (since I got back from being away in the mountains), and haven't been keeping on top of the message board. Just read about your snow surfing experience. Glad to hear you are OK! Scary Stuff.

Re: Holy awesome shot!

yeah, I guess our problem with the cornices on Nebo was that we weren't scared enough when we were climbing!

What a great photo!

What a scary crack in that layer of snow! Thankfully it stayed in place.
