Mt Katahdin stands high above the lowest streams in the central part of Maine. Here Katahdin is pictured, one day after I made a climb to the top. My brother and I were looking for moose and decided to check out this swampy area just off the road. We did find some fresh moose tracks, but the scenery from the swamp was much more appealing, though we had to sacrifice a few bugs bites to get some pictures. The ridge line pictured is the ridge in which the Appalachian (or Hunt) Trail traverses the mountain.
