the 'standard route'Wasatch Mountain Club hike with Dave, Beth, Barb & Shasta (dog). Via Grandview TH, Hades Pass.. Highly scenic & all conditions that day made it a very memorable quality hike!

From Grandview TH and Hades PassEasy hike to Hades Pass on fairly level trail. Class II + scrambling from the pass to the ridgeline on large boulders. Once on the ridge, short section of Class III, no exposure. Nice broad ridge and summit. Huge number of people on the trail heading to the lakes, but nobody else hiking the peak! With RDB.

Beautiful DayStarted at the Grandview TH, and was intending to do West Grandaddy. When I got to Hades Pass, I noticed how close the East Grandaddy ridge was to the trail, and figured I'd knock that one out, since I had to get back in the early afternoon. Fun little scramble to the ridge, and some fun jumping sections with the broken rock on top. Still some snow on the ridges with elk tracks. Made it to the summit in 4.4 miles, and 1 hour, 45 minutes. Wanted to get West Grandaddy as well, but ran out of time. I'll have to get back to this beautiful area sometime soon.

North gully via Lodgepole LakeFollowed the North gully via Lodgepole Lake route. Great weather, great views and a great trip. Definitely more adventurous than the Hades pass route but still just steep class 3 at its worst.

via Hades PassFun class 3 on top of the ridge, but a person could go around the scrambling section if they wanted too. Barely beat the storm getting down from the summit. We had a nice overnighter by Mohawk Lake after the hike.

Nice hikeNice hike, nice views, threatening weather. Started at the Grandview TH, hiked to Hades Pass, and then followed the ridge to the summit. Also did 11470. It was challenging to get from the summit of E Grandaddy to the saddle between it and 11470. We had several false starts but eventually we wound our way down through the cliffs on the northeast side. I took my pack off at one point to explore and sure enough it started rolling. My GPS came out of an outside pocket and they were both tumbling towards the cliff with me yelling no, no, no! The GPS stopped right at the edge but my pack went over. :( I was able to climb down to get it but it took awhile. It took us so long to get to 11470 and back that we were worried Dickey's Barbeque Pit would close before we got there but fortunately they were open until 9 and we made it with 1/2 hour to spare.

via Arta LakeAmazing peak! Such a fun hike. The scrambling was very fun, but then it was also great to take a nice walk down. The views were awesome and the lakes were beautiful. Cool summit cairn also.
