Dihedral Wall

Dihedral Wall

Pitch 4 of Dihedral Wall on El Cap. Those first five pitches go hammerless pretty easily now. And one of those waterfalls visible above would shift its course directly onto our portaledge atop P5 in the evening...oh well (May 2009).

I am sorry

Dihedral Wall didn't work out for you. I have heard it's a mega grunt climb. I have been to the base of it more times than I could count. I remember hearing that you needed a lot of big pieces. I have done La Escuela, in winter when chunks of ice were breaking off of those water streaks and ending up on top of us. That's after picking up all that speed. I wish I was young and could climb like you.
Incredible photos Radek,
Marc

and how about...

... the little roofy part at the end of p3? (at least i think it was three -- brain's a little fuzzy! :) Craig led that one and used a hook on the traverse -- i had a heck of a time cleaning it! Great to see you guys again.

Re: and how about...

I do! I think it's that leftward roof traverse seen in this photo? Maybe this shot is actually P4?? not sure. But I do recall stretching to blindly place a blue tcu at start of roof traverse, easing onto it and having it pop on me :) Same procedure repeated with a green alien worked better on take 2 :)
Really cool & fun running into you guys as well!

Re: and how about...

You're right -- it was the little roofy part on Pitch 4, not 3. In your pic it's just to the right of your body... scary but fun! :)
