"Three Miles Up; Three Miles Down"
Looking at the atlas between Sassafras Mountain & Brasstown Bald, I realized I had to swing past here and run the road to the top. It was very inspiring, and it would be for anyone familiar with the 101st Airborne. Unfortunately I reached the summit a little after sunset, so I could not fully enjoy the views or see the climbing rocks. I finished my run down in pitch dark.
I am disappointed that the Currahee page does not mention the rich history of this mountain.
I've climbed probably half of the routes out here, my favorite being the easy 5.6 "All I wanted was a Pepsi," (or whatever it's called). The climbing is fun enough, and a great intro to slab, but the routes here get old quick. There are about 5 or 6 routes that are interesting enough to me and within my level. Everything else is harder (5.11+ I think) or has ridiculous starts. Mikey's Mantle (a 5.10 I think) is a fun puzzle, and the brick wall's 2 easy routes (No-name crack [5.8+?] and Off-width crack [same I think]) are nice, short, and different from a lot of southeastern climbing.
I've also free soloed "Pepsi" in 2009, and that is probably the craziest thing I've ever done. Leading that route is nearly as insane, as the first and only bolt is about 40% up the 30+meter route.
I'd recommend it for an intro to outdoor sport climbing (and "Christian graffiti," believe it or not) and definitely for slab, but it can quickly get old. The views from the top however, are excellent, rivaling Sand Rock Alabama.

Colonel Robert Sink Memorial Trail
My wife and I drove to the top of this mountain while on our way from Atlanta to the Smoky Mountains. The eastern view of the mountain is impressive for a Georgia mountain. I can see why rock climbing is popular here. There are some views through the trees.

Currahee!
Drive to the top with the terrifically ugly towers. Climbing routes are all around, and the rock outcroppings provide fabulous views.
Route Climbed: Mikey's Mantle, Stranger than Fiction, Frictionary, A Wing and A Prayer, others Date Climbed: 2001-Currently
Currahee Mountain has a good selection of routes that can be lead or easily rigged for toprope. Best climbing in fall - spring. Summer can be very hot.

Route Climbed: Many different routes Date Climbed: April 2000 - presentThis was the first rock climbing that I attempted. I had only climbed in climbing gyms before this experience.
Easy access and a varity of difficulty makes this a great place to play no matter what your skill level.
