Crowfeet's Rounded Western Face

Crowfeet's Rounded Western Face

This view from Bullhead Point, which is a short ridge extending east from Mount Wilbur, shows the entire rounded western flank of Crowfeet Mountain. Pointed peak distant upper left is Gable Mountain (9262'), and Ptarmigan Lake is barely visible about a third of the way down the image on the left. (Although it can't be made out in this image, the Ptarmigan Tunnel is at the high point of the saddle above the lake.) Our descent route off the mountain headed left from the summit, as though going to the lake, but rejoined the trail a short distance this side. The cliffs are much more difficult to work through than they appear from this distance, and require caution and patience.
