Lovely half-day hike
Short drive to the trailhead from Spearfish, SD, and then a steady climb on a good trail to the summit, which affords long views of the Black Hills on three sides and the broad plains to the north.
07/13/18 Trail ran to the top. Good training for bigger peaks!

Crow
The best weather of my trip was on Crow Peak. It was a clear day and I could see from Spearfish all the way to Bear Butte.

Wow, wow, WOW! This is an absolutely amazing and beautiful mountain. I loved the woods, I loved the views...the summit is just the perfect place to chill out and think "Holy shit, this place is beautiful!" We enjoyed the peak with several faculty and students from the Black Hills State University Geology Department.
We topped off our visit with a long stay at the Crow Peak Brewery. What is NOT to like???

Crow Peak TH
Took my best friend Carol up to the top. We met a guy from Maine who had just moved to Spearfish. Among my few travels to South Dakota, I think this is the best summit so far. Great views and beautiful weather.

Great View
Hiked up in the winter in Feb. Was cold but the views of Spearfish, Bear Butte, and Sundance Mountain are awesome. Only about an hour up.

An old favorite!
This was the date of my last climb. I've climbed it 3 times since 2005 while I was in college at Black Hills State University in Spearfish, SD. Start in the morning and enjoy lunch on the summit. I find this climb to be a treat every time, Beautiful and pleasant!

I can't remember the date, or even the year, but I do know I hiked up there with my wife (then she was my girlfriend), and a good friend Nick. I think it was early October.

Great Fall Hiking!
The first of October was a perfect day for a hike up Crow Peak. The Fall colors on the drive up, as well as along the trail, were fantastic. My hiking companion Susan, and I, had a nice visit at the summit with a seasoned climber from Alaska. The temperatures were perfect for the day's hike.
