Crevasse Fall

Crevasse Fall

Crevasse fall at 7000 feet on the Easton Glacier, Mount Baker. This simulated scenario and subsequent rescue was part of the training program we use to teach new OSAT students glacier skills. Photographed June 9, 2007.

Re: Sorry...

Would you like me to change the name to Crevasse Fall Simulation?

Re: Sorry...

Yep, that title would be good. You are deceiving SPers by leaving "Crevasse Fall". If he would fall inside the crevasse he couldn't go out by his own. Probably he'd have died

Re: Sorry...

??? I've fallen into a crevasse about this size before and I'm not dead. Isn't that what rope's for and why you learn these skills?

Re: Sorry...

It's good that you are not dead after that fall. Sorry but I don't believe that the climber in the pic has fallen in such a crevasse. You were injured after the fall. Weren't you?

Re: Sorry...

The description already says that. I only fell a few meters before the rope became taught although I would have obviously fallen a long way were I not roped. No injuries other than than to my pride. Bit better at identifying crevasses these days.

Re: Sorry...

Anyway, I don't see a fall in the pic. You were not falling when the pic was taken

Re: Sorry...

Hey Diego stop being a douchebag and read the comment with the photo that mentions its training. Also stop overthinking things and spend more time climbing....just saying!

Re: Sorry...

I said what I said. I have noticed that it's a simulation. Yesterday I was on the mountains blakemj33 and I will be there very soon

Odd...

How some people have left silly comments on this photo.... also funny how most people easily ignore the details. Great photo though!

Re: Odd...

Yeah, I don't engage dramatic debates beyond the point of reason but I thought it was nice that some people stood up for me with their comments.

Fall

Hah I was wondering too how the hell can you fall in that: "oh woops didn't see it", until I read the caption :-)

Good stuff, cheers,

Rick
