"Got tight last night on absinthe and did knife tricks. Great success shooting the knife into the piano. The woodworms are so bad and eat hell out of all furniture that you can always claim the woodworms did it."

Must doThis should be a requirement for anyone that lives in San Diego. On any given day you will see, runners, hikers, old and young all out to enjoy the day and view.

Many timesHiked it regularly when I first moved to SD, before I found the much less populated remainder of Mission Trails.

Up and Back in an HourAfter making a trip to the San Diego Airport I decided to finally hike Cowles. Unfortunately, I chose to go on a Saturday and there were about 200 other people on the mountain that day (no exaggeration). Hard to enjoy the summit with so many ppl/families on top, but I managed to have a decent jog down despite the crowds and got back to my car within an hour of beginning the hike. I'd recommend any other hike unless you live close.

Golfcrest DriveThis time it took me 18 min from the Golfcrest T/H to Cowles summit. I then continued to Pyles Peak summit (another 16 min of trail running). Wow....literally over 50+ people on the Golfcrest trail for a Wed afternoon.

Local FavoriteThis is a favorite for after work, before work, and during lunch breaks. Best time to go is around 2 in the afternoon. Not a whole lot of people then.

Crowded Mtn!!Seemed more like walking through the mall than climbing up a mountain. People Everywhere!! I also climbed Pyle's Peak and saw two people the entire hike, much more enjoyable.

Great place to train. This is a great place to get in a good workout. Sadly, I moved to Texas from San Diego in Jan 08, but this is one of the first places I head when I visit. Try it on a full moon night with some friends and a thermos of hot chocolate. The views are incredible!

Via Golfcrest DriveAfter sitting on an airplane most of the day to fly to San Diego for business, I drove directly to the Golfcrest trailhead to summit Cowles Mountain. I was pleasantly surprised by the stiff elevation gain. The trail atmosphere is very reminiscent of Piestewa Peak in Phoenix, with a lot of after-work walkers getting hitting the trail for daily exercise. On the downside, the smog was just atrocious. I could hardly see the surrounding mountains and my lungs were on fire - not from the elevation gain but from the "suspended particulates" in the air. Still, a great way to burn off some business-trip stress/fatigue.
