"After the first glass, you see things as you wish they were. After the second, you see things as they are not. Finally, you see things as they really are, which is the most horrible thing in the world."

My 1st waterfall : WI 3WI 3 line. Thrilling! REALLY "thrilling" on the 2nd pitch as water was visibly running freely underneath the ice -- and when it was neccessary to step into 6" of rushing water through a hole in the ice at the very top. I had visions of slipping or being knocked off balance by the pouring water, thus being swept underneath the ice...but the footing was surprisingly secure. Awkward semi-mantle around / over a boulder to gain the final belay. Magical fairyland on top, with frozen pools.
Partner: Dick Walker.
